OUR COMMUNITY
At Beyond Travel, giving back is a core part of who we are. We aim to support people both on home soil, and further beyond by selecting meaningful initiatives, big and small, that reflect care, connection and community.
Our New Monthly Social Impact Calendar
Each month, we’ll spotlight a key social impact theme relevant to Australia, supported by simple, meaningful ways for everyone at Beyond Travel to get involved. These will include challenges, volunteering opportunities, and awareness activities designed to make a real difference.
Our Social Impact Calendar
July: homelessness in Australia during the winter period
In 2021, more than 122,000 people were estimated to be experiencing homelessness. Out of these people, 47,900 were staying in severely overcrowded dwellings, 24,300 and 7,600 were rough sleepers. And with temperatures dropping over winter, life is even more difficult for people living in these conditions.
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH AT BEYOND TO HELP?
Throughout July, we’ll be running a range of activities the office can get involved in, whether from the desk, the office or out in the community. Here’s what we’re up to:
- Donation Box: all month we’ll be collecting donations of tents, clothing, toiletries, non-perishable food, reusable food containers and other useful items.
- Winter Care Package Morning: we’ll be assembling winter care packages for families and young people experiencing homelessness.
- Volunteer day: Volunteer at the OzHarvest Waterloo Market, helping provide rescued fresh produce and pantry staples to people in need.
