DAY 1 Athens
Welcome to Athens! Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel. After check-in, start exploring the ancient and absorbing capital of Greece. The birthplace of democracy, arts, science and philosophy of western civilisation, as well as the home of Plato, Socrates, Pericles, Euripides, Sophocles and Aeschylus, Athens is one of the world's oldest cities. Its recorded history spans around 3,400 years and it has been inhabited since the 11th millennium B.C. Tonight, wander the streets of Plaka with its array of bars, cafes and restaurants for dinner.

DAY 2 Athens
Discover Athens on your own today or pre-book an optional guided tour. A walk around the Acropolis is a must for any visitor; see the famous Parthenon, the Temple of Athena and the Propylaea. There are also many other fascinating sights including the Panathenaic Stadium (where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896), Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, Syntagma Square, Ancient Agora of Athens and much more. In the evening, why not consider classic entertainment like going to the theatre, folk music and dancing or plate-smashing?

DAY 3 Athens - Kyllini
This morning, take the private transfer to Kyllini, the first island stop on your Ionian Escape in Depth tour. A port town in the western Peloponnese, it is the third largest passenger port in Greece and a popular destination for thermal baths and holidays by the sea. On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in and the remainder of the day is free to enjoy Kyllini as you like. Get a good look at the Frankish Castle of Chlemoutsi and St. Nectarios of Aegina Church, or simply lay by any beach and luxuriate in the laid-back coastal lifestyle you have come here for.

DAY 4 Kyllini - Zakynthos
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the port for your ferry to Zakynthos, a Greek island in the Ionian Sea and a well-known summer resort. On arrival, you will be transferred by private vehicle past palm trees and green hills to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to appreciate this stunning island, being one of the few which are not overcrowded with tourists yet. And when you feel hungry, stroll into town for a rich variety of cuisines such as broad bean mash with pita, tyrokayteri (cream cheese), kuneli (rabbit), gouvesti (lamb with pasta) and mantolato (nougat).

DAYS 5 & 6 Zakynthos
Zakynthos, also known by its Italian name Zante, is a beautiful mix of forested wilderness and long, sandy beaches reaching into calming turquoise water. Wander through Solomos Square, surrounded by buildings with arch-shapes windows and arcades - trademarks of the traditional architecture. Head to the west coast where you will find a rocky landscape dotted with quiet coves and caves, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Make sure to include a visit to the famous Shipwreck Beach for a sight you won't see anywhere else.

DAY 7 Zakynthos - Kefalonia
In the morning, catch the transfer to the port for your ferry ride from Zakynthos to Kefalonia, another island in the Ionian Sea, marked by sandy coves and dry rugged landscapes. On arrival, you will be transferred by private vehicle to your hotel, then the balance of the day is at your disposal. The movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) was filmed here which helped to popularise this island, full of sparkling blue bays, bucolic countryside and colourful fishing villages along its coast. Its capital, Argostoli, is built on a hillside and many beaches are only accessible on foot.

DAY 8 Kefalonia
Spend a full day discovering this gem of an island, famous for the fishing villages of Fiscardo and Assos, and natural attractions including Melissani Underground Lake, Drogarati Cave and Myrtos Beach. Pine, cypress and olive trees cover Mt. Ainos' peak, while at its foot you'll come across vineyards where the popular Kefalonian Robola wine variety is produced. If you love snorkelling or diving, you might even encounter the rare caretta-caretta (loggerhead) sea turtles that take refuge here or the monk (Mediterranean) seals monachus-monachus.

DAY 9 Kefalonia - Patras - Athens
Aboard the transfer to the port for your ferry to Patras, then meet your driver/guide for your transfer to Athens with a stop at the Ancient Corinth for a tour. Corinth was founded in the Neolithic period between 5000-3000 BCE and became a major city in the 8th century BCE, known for its architectural and artistic innovations including the invention of black-figure pottery. Afterwards, arrive at the nation's capital and take in the lively outdoor atmosphere on your last night in this ancient city. Delve into the local life by browsing the many street markets or dine in a typical Greek tavern
